Dr. Shasta Smith, Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, attended Iowa State University, College of Veterinary Medicine and received her DVM in 2008. After graduation she completed a one year internship at Elgin Veterinary Hospital. She then completed a 3-year surgical residency at Oklahoma State University. In 2013, Dr. Smith became board certified in Equine Surgery and then worked in private practice, and back at her alma mater, ISU, as the equine emergency surgeon. She joined the Texas Equine team in July 2015.
