Texas Candidate Conservation Agreement with Assurances for Lesser Prairie Chickens Updated:10/2018

** No Longer Accepting Applications**

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) and US Fish and Wildlife Service entered into a Candidate Conservation Agreement with Assurances (CCAA) for the conservation of Lesser Prairie Chicken populations in Texas. Participating property owners will be included under the CCAA by signing individual Certificates of Inclusion with the TPWD and creating a TPWD-approved Wildlife Management Plan.

If the species is listed as threatened, the US FWS will issue TPWD an incidental take permit for LPC. This will allow participant to continue the practices on their land so long as they fulfill the terms of the CCAA, even if it will result in a take of the LPC.
