Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Updated:12/2020

Mission

The mission of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation is to ensure the future of elk, other wildlife and their habitat.

In support of this mission, the RMEF is committed to:
  • Conserving, restoring and enhancing natural habitats.
  • Promoting the sound management of wild free-ranging elk, which may be hunted or otherwise enjoyed.
  • Fostering cooperation among federal, state and private organizations and individuals in wildlife management and habitat conservation.
  • Educating members and the public about habitat conservation, the value of hunting, hunting ethics and wildlife management.
Conservation programs include habitat improvement projects, land acquisition and easements, management-related research, elk transplants and conservation education. Foundation resources are focused entirely on the Mission, precluding involvement in issues or debates that might inhibit or dilute that focus. The primary strategy of the foundation is to raise funds to support its mission and purposes.

The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation was incorporated May 1984 in Montana as an international, non-profit wildlife conservation organization in accordance with IRS statutes 501(c)(3) and 590(a)(2). Qualified contributions to the foundation are tax-deductible. Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation members live in the United States, Canada and many other foreign countries.
